Ready To Ruffle

Ruffles. Most of the time, they are associated with young children and doll clothes. You may think it’s one of those trends that you outgrow by the time you’re a teenager; they tend to have a gaudy reputation. But you know what? Ruffles are actually wearable at any age as long as you pair them with the right pieces. So today, we’re going to show you the right way to wear this delicate let stylish trend. Let’s get ready to ruffle! (Sorry, couldn’t resist…)

ruffled sweater with jeans

Up first, we have this Pink Ruffled Sweater from Sam & Lavi. The soft pink color is perfect for fall, when you want to give darker hues a rest. This piece is so soft and comfy. The flow-y, ruffled detail on the shoulder is very fresh and feminine; not tacky at all! We paired the sweater with Articles Of Society Denim and a Cleobella clutch. To keep the sweater from looking too “cutesy,” simply add edgy earrings--like these hoops from Virtue. To top off the look, we rocked Diff Eyewear shades.

Ruffled Skirt with Black Tee

The whole western trend is really “in” this season. If you are hesitate to try it, no worries -- you don’t have to look like a cowgirl! This suede BB Dakota Skirt is such a fun statement piece. To keep the outfit wearable, we paired it with a black Sam & Lavi Tee. To tie in the western, rustic vibe, we added a beaded necklace from Maryn. This skirt is so versatile; you can pair it with a tee or a button-down for a more sophisticated look.

One style tip to keep in mind when wearing ruffles is just to keep it to one piece per outfit. Ruffles on a top and a skirt at the same time would be a little bit overboard, don’t you think? Nonetheless, have fun with it..ruffles are a classic that won’t go out of fashion anytime soon.
